Japanese Music Secrets

Japanese music, in my opinion, is different from the others, and a lot of Japanese music is used as a theme for anime.

  1. Visual kei

Visual kei is different from boyband or girl-band, Even though most visual kei songs are a bit strange to hear, their appearance is the main attraction. especially the Gazette, Dir en grey, SID, Malice Mizer, and more.

  2. Anime
Music was promoted by the spread of anime throughout the world. It could be opening song, ending song, insert song, and original soundtrack. but there are people who think that anime songs are small children's songs, but in reality in Japan, musicians who have filled the soundtrack of an anime are musicians who are recognized or professional musicians. That is why Japanese musicians are very proud of being able to fill an anime soundtrack. Singers or bands who have filled anime soundtracks include YUI, Flow, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, and Ikimonogakari, Larc En Ciel, and more.

  3. Idol

Idol is also used as a music booster. You could say they sell looks first. The main target is the male fans. Examples include Morning Musume, Berryz Kobo, Buono !, and other idol units. Idol image is still dominated by Hello! Project, even though their prestige is slightly down due to AKB48 and Perfume.

  4. Video Games

Games contribute so much OST production. The most influential examples in the world are Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) & Motoi Sakuraba (Tales of series, Star Ocean). In addition, there are Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Cross, Xenosaga, Shadow Heart) and Tetsuya Shibata (Devil May Cry).
